Failed After Effects - Track Motion

Tried to do the technique posted about earlier - as you can see, it didn't go very well. It was ambitious at the start but we can continue without it.

Editing Idea - Titles

Although it is part of Thabiti's expertise, I wanted to try and attatch the titles to the image as it moved and wanted to find out how. I researched it and this was the best video I watched:

Hope to try it when I get to college.

Quick Update:

We have been told to make a change/look at a shot at 2:48 in our current Rough Cut. It is slightly weird in terms of framing and we will have a look - this is just an update on Feedback from Louis (again)

Blogging Health Check Feedback

I had some feedback from Louis on my blogging health check last week.

So strength wise, it's good that my audience feedback and planning and research into similar products has been noticed.

However, unfortunately the presentation of the storyboard has let us down throughout - this was Tristen's responsibility, and he promises he will do it. This comes hand-in-hand with the animatic: unfortunately also Tristen's responsibility.

The production schedule was a pitch task that came under Adriana's responsibilities. However, since she is missing in action somewhere, we will have to take over. I think I may try and complete this within the next couple days to save our marks.

Editing Update : Penultimate Day

Before The Deadline:

Feedback From Louisa

This is one of our final pieces of Feedback - in summary, we need to take out some edits such as our flicker and change some cuts. We also may need to add some transitions into the choruses. But we are on the right track hallelujah.

Warp Stabiliser + Slow Motion

As you may or may not know, you can't add Warp Stabiliser on the same clip as you have already added Slow Motion on (on the same project). However, we did find a way round this issue:

Confirmed - Plan for Tuesday

It is confirmed - we are to be filming on Tuesday morning. We, after discussion with Louisa, have decided that for the purposes of structure we should re-film each chorus again with a new location and new costume.

As you can see, we have had in-depth discussion about it through Whatsapp. We will be at college by 9 and back by 10 45. Our location is:

Which is very close to college and a low-rise estate similar to our Estate 1 (West Green). Using a low-rise estate is quite effective for our song - if we went to a High Rise like Barbican it would look too flashy and iconic for our song, which is literally about the Endz. Although a high-rise estate is indeed the 'Endz', it is simpler and more ordinary to have a low-rise, fitting in with our song.

Plan for Tuesday

Example of Structure

I've been looking at some other music videos, specifically ones from the rap genre, which have a clear structure - so I have an idea of what we want.

What I like about this video's structure is the use of locations - the first verse is primarily on the bus, but and although the other verses use a variety of locations, the chorus uses the same location each time. The use of the shop for the chorus provides a clear visual structure to go along with the audio, something which we may look into on Tuesday.

Rough Cut 2 WITH STRUCTURE

Feedback on Rough Cut 2 WITH STRUCTURE Target Audience

We got Feedback for our Rough Cut 3 (Rough Cut 2 W/ Structure) from our Target Audience - Urban Male Youth aged 15-24.

Feedback on Rough Cut 2

We had some feedback from our teacher for our Rough Cut 2, which will be uploaded soon. We have to work on our structuring mainly, and we will upload a rough cut with this structuring hopefully today also.

Blue Stuff

Tranisitions

We've been discussing Transitions to make it obvious our chorus and verse are different, as using a motif transition as they change will help our structure. Thabiti has some ideas, but we have been doing some research into our genre to see what they do:

This video, by Ray Niro, uses some good transitions going into/ out of the chorus. At 55 seconds, it uses a shake transition to exit the chorus which we could use - it is obvious we are going into a different part of the song. It is the same at 2:29, where it speeds up before jumping to show the transition to the chorus. These are aspects we may implement into our video using After Effects.
